About Me

Gretha Martinez

Dynamic Mindfulness Yoga Teacher

I completed my 200-hour training in Dynamic Mindfulness in 2021 with Tatjana Mesar in Berlin, Germany. This training challenged my understanding of the body and many cues that I had been given over the years of my vinyasa practice. I came out with a greater appreciation for the body, having studied it as a deeply interconnected ecosystem, rather than a sum of its parts.

I have since continued my education with a 30-hour training on Restorative Yoga with Yoga Renew.

I am delighted to offer both dynamic flows and deeply relaxing restorative sessions.

I would describe my dynamic classes as fluid and lighthearted, with exploration of movement within and between postures. Students can expect to wave, bounce, pulse, and take time to observe the breath.

Restorative sessions are created to help alleviate tension and stress, dedicating the time and intention to rest and digest.

My Story

I found yoga in Barcelona at 21, as a university student searching for an outlet for stress. During my very first savasana, I experienced a sense of release and relief unlike anything before—I immediately understood the power of the practice.

Over the next three years, I explored every yoga class I could find, from Vinyasa to Yin, Ashtanga to Yoga Nidra, Jivamukti to Kundalini. While Vinyasa and Restorative yoga became my foundations, I approached each style with curiosity, gathering tools that helped me navigate discomfort with greater ease.

After four years of dedicated practice, I knew it was time to go deeper. Having just moved from sunny Barcelona to grey Berlin, yoga became my anchor during a challenging transition. I enrolled in a 200-hour Foundational Teacher Training in Dynamic Mindfulness, a six-month immersion of daily study and practice. Despite years of attending yoga classes, this training marked the true beginning of my lifelong journey as a student.

Since then, I have guided private and small-group yoga sessions across Europe and South Africa, tailoring each practice to individual needs while creating a supportive and mindful space.

Now based in San Francisco, I am excited to offer private and small-group mindful flow and restorative yoga sessions, helping students cultivate strength, release tension, and find moments of stillness in a busy world. You can find me every Sunday at 7PM @ Sol Hot Yoga and Movement for a gentle evening flow, or practice restorative yoga with me at PUSH Dance Company on Tuesday Mornings at 9AM!

Whether you’re looking for an energizing flow or deep relaxation, I look forward to guiding you in your practice.
